AUGUST 2023

If you’re interested in a personal reading please click here or contact me directly through email at mitchastro@aol.com

I am doing a series of podcasts and webinars for Astrology Hub covering 2023. The first was released in January. The second was released in March and is available. The third will be released in early July. You can purchase them at www.Astrologyhub.com as well as the webinar from last year. It is a 2 hour video with a follow-up Q&A of 2 1/2 hours.

Circumstances and time limitations are forcing my hand, and this will be an abbreviated newsletter. There is no Void of Course moon chart. My apologies. We’ll be back up to par next month. In the meantime, enjoy August and have a wonderful summer.

 AUTHOR’S NOTES:

“The bulls are back in town, the bulls are back in town…”

In case you haven’t been paying attention, that bull market that I predicted in my recent webinars for astrologyhub is here, pushing your 401Ks up nicely and hopefully alleviates some of the angst you have carried for the past months. Inflation is down WAAAAAAY down. It’s around 3 1.2%, down from 9 % about a year ago. The economy is strong, unemployment continues to be at historic lows, and most sectors of the S&Ps are rallying. Could something screw it up? Or course! We’re living in the Matrix, at any time someone could turn a knob and the world will turn upside down. But in an organic world, this is a time to consider (carefully) investing back into the equities. But diversify, as I continue to preach in my webinars.

It is with deep sadness that we bid farewell to Tony Bennett, one of the most prolific, talented and gentle souls in music. We will all miss him dearly, and cannot thank him enough for all the wonderful music, paintings, and charming spirit he has given us for almost a century. Rest in peace, you dear man. You deserve it until you return to us once again to share whatever talents you have accrued.

NEW MOON IN CANCER:

The New Moon falls on Monday July 17th at 2:32 P.M. EDT at 24 degrees Cancer 56 minutes. Summer is in full swing and hitting home runs all over the place. I know I’m a bit biased, as it is my favorite season, but I can’t help myself. It’s like the one person you’ve fallen in love with and no matter how many years go by, or what changes you go through, nothing can dull that bright, sparkling shine. You will always carry a torch. When I was not quite 18 I met a girl not quite 17. From the moment she opened the door to invite me into her parent’s house I was smitten. I’ve loved many women through my life, and was lucky enough to be a pretty damn good musician, playing top piano bars through the country, and on off season bartending, so I knew my share of young ladies. And some relationships lasted a long time, and I still love them. They are my sisters, my lovers, my friends. But I have never felt what I felt that June day when that door opened and this light rushed through me like the light from an angel’s heart. We spent that summer together, and while I knew it wasn’t going to last, for so many reasons I couldn’t cover it here. Perhaps a novel or screenplay someday, who knows?

But I learned more that summer at that young vulnerable age than I would have thought possible. I’ve written many songs about her and the influence she had over me. And now, all these years later, I know the truth. It was simply meant to be. We could never be together, just two sheep passing in the night. But every single moment I spent with her was as eternity that still sits in my heart. Had I known how much pain and how many years I would carry that torch it wouldn’t have matter. Would I have turned that fateful day and run back to my parent’s house to hide in the sanctity of childhood? No. I couldn’t have turned away from that beautiful face, that glorious joy and awful pain. For she offered me truth, life, knowledge in her simple smile. We spent my birthday together and had our first fight. I knew it was because of the inevitability of what would come at summer’s end. And in many ways, that’s what summer is to me: The great promise that always disappoints; the plans and dreams that usually do not manifest in full. But without them what would life mean?

So to all the loves we have felt, and shared, and lost, to all the wishes and dreams of our youth, and the people who have loved us sometimes for their own selfish reasons, and because as time goes on we know that there will be that inevitable last summer, I hold onto every moment, even the sad ones. And the people that I love now I love far more deeply and respectfully, and honestly than I could have ever known as a 17 year old lad. The years have changed me and seasoned me like a fine filet mignon, and I have much more to offer and to accept from those who love me. But there is the freshness and unnerving vulnerability that comes with the age of innocence. And for that I will never forget or regret what I’ve been through. And this is what a Cancer New Moon can bring out of a Cancerian like myself, but really from anyone open to feeling its powers. As I wrote in one of my murder mysteries “Death in the 12th House”: “Grapes plucked from a nearly vacant vine quench better than the sweeter wine.”  Happy Cancer New Moon. Water your soul with tears of sorrow and tears of joy. Love to you all. Mitch

THE SUN TRINES NEPTUNE: MARS OPPOSES SATURN:

On Thursday July 20th at 9:07 A.M. EDT we have a day or two of positive, optimistic outgoing energy when people will be more social and you should try to spend some time with friends on Wednesday and in the early part of the day Thursday. We will all be more open-minded and anxious for smooth and non-combative interaction. It’s a great time for travel. You will enjoy the journey as much as the anticipation of the destination. But On Thursday July 20th at 4:39 P.M. EDT there will be a shift in moods and many people will tend to withdraw into themselves, or just wish to spend time alone or in a quiet environment. Mars hates to be confined, and that’s just what Saturn is best at. This can be a period of frustration and angst, and you may not be able to put your finger on exactly why you‘re feeling that way. Well, that’s often how we must use astrology, more for the direction we should be heading than in full understanding of the situation. Use it well and it will always serve you.

THE SUN OPPOSES PLUTO:

On Friday July 21st at 11:53 P.M. EDT this opposition will demand our attention. This isn’t a time to ignore important thoughts, ideas, or any minor disagreements that you thought you could just shrug off. You may find that the small fire you built earlier has returned as a roaring, wind-blown blaze much less containable. Try to clean up your      little messes as you move along so they don’t become major issues. This is a good aspect for delving into the deep and important things. And summer is one of the best times for nostalgia. Look back and see what’s been left unfinished, and what personal issues still need to be cleared up so you can move yourself and that relationship forward. This can be a very productive time, if you approach it properly.

VENUS RETROGRADES:

On Saturday July 22nd at 9:33 P.M. EDT the goddess of love (and money) dances her way into our hearts, twisting and turning backwards, like M.J. moonwalking. So what does a Rx Venus imply? Some believe that it means love is definitely not in the air. I don’t agree. I’ve seen many wonderful relationships begin under this aspect. It just means that the participants have a second level of relating that needs to be considered. There is deeper, perhaps karmic level to the coupling that could take years to fully understand. Nor does it mean that you will have financial problems throughout the length of the relationship. In fact, it may show that one or both of you have certain lessons to learn about money, this person, this combination may be the best teacher you will ever have. I’ve seen couples get wealthy once they get together. When looking back at their conception, you may find this aspect shows up more than just chance.

THE SUN ENTERS LEO:

On Saturday July 22nd at 9:52 P.M. EDT we enter the second ruler of summer. Where Cancer and its era is all about feelings, family, the past, memories and lost loves (at least mine are), Leo is more playful in some ways. This is the time for games. Leo rules the 5th house of romance, games, gambling, the waves and the nightlife. It doesn’t really want to contend with too much of that mushy stuff. Oh they’re very romantic, in their fashion, but only to their breaking point. Leos make great friends, business partners, and can be counted on when trouble arrives. They’ll stand next to you on their tall, magnificent steed in full armor. But sometimes they will create a space if they see those water works being turned on. This is the time for letting loose and just enjoying life. It’s a great lesson this sign teaches me repeatedly.

MERCURY SQUARE URANUS:

On Sunday July 23rd at 5:93 P.M. EDT there will be a great deal of nervous energy being projected. If you stay busy and use it to your advantage this can be a very positive and successful day. But it is still an unbalanced and irritable force, so try to find ways of relaxing and don’t take on every little spat that someone may throw at you. Use caution when traveling, and think before you speak or you may step into a number of potholes along the way.

MERCURY ENTERS VIRGO:

On Friday July 28th at 5:31 P.M. EDT until October 4th at 8:09 P.M. EDT we will all be a little more cerebral. Oh, we’re still under the influence of Leo, don’t worry. Summer isn’t ending early this year. It’s just that you may find that people want to have more serious conversations. You might find a desire to go to places of historical significance or to museums. I don’t know what the film releases are scheduled for this month, but I wouldn’t be surprised to find that there are more Openheirmer and fewer Barbies. But who can tell. An old Hollywood producer once said: “Nobody ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public”.

Look for intellectual stimuli now. Personally I love to read on the beach. But then I’d love almost everything on the sand. But seriously, there is nothing more delightful and delving into a good, deep novel or history with the waves crashing behind you and soft squishy feeling of grabbing the sand with your toes.

FULL MOON IN AQUARIUS:

This month lunar peak occurs on Tuesday August 1st at 2:32 P.M. EDT at 9 degrees Aquarius 16 minutes. This should be an exciting few days, just use a bit of caution. Aquarius, and its ruler Uranus, get easily bored. They want some adventure and if it isn’t provided, they will take of that. This is a sign that does best when you’re busy and jumping from one thing to another. Sit around for too long and it will feel irritable, can make you antsy, which might make you distracted and respond to something in a way you hadn’t even thought of.

MARS TRINES JUPITER:

On Tuesday August 1st at 4:45 P.M. EDT this extremely positive and optimistic trine will give us all a few days of forward thinking and good communication. People are outgoing and it’s a sociable and active time. Make use of it. Try some new things, get together with your closest and dearest, or take a short journey. You’ll be very happy that you did. Don’t just sit inside and stare at a screen. This is a day of life and expansion. Mercury will be in opposition to Saturn later tonight, and the mood will change. But until that happens, share your ideas, get out and be with people.

MERCURY OPPOSES SATURN:

On Tuesday August 1st at 10:18 P.M. EDT this stogy aspect will limit your desire to communicate, so don’t plan any social interactions unless you need to discuss something of importance and depth. If the matter is serious, this could be a help getting to the root of the problem. If you’re planning a first date or a party, choose another day.

THE SUN SQUARES JUPITER:

On Sunday August 6th at 8:03 P.M. EDT this much more outgoing and gregarious aspect will lighten your spirits and open your eyes to possibilities you couldn’t have seen yesterday. This is a good day for any social interactions. Plan a party or a dinner. It’s a great day for a short trip, so if you can get away, do so.

VENUS SQUARES URANUS:

On Wednesday August 9th at 7:08 A.M. EDT

MERCURY TRINES JUPITER:

On Wednesday August 9th at 8:47 P.M. EDT

THE SUN CONJUNCTS VENUS:

On Sunday August 13th at 7:16 A.M. EDT we have a lovely, gentle subdued day or so. Call this your weekend of peace. This is a time to relax, sit and enjoy your food, chat with friends, and take short journeys. It’s not a weekend for roller coaster. Venus wants to relax, even in Leo. It’s doesn’t want to withdraw into a depressed state, or sit and worry about every little thing, like it might in Virgo or Pisces. It wants to have fun, but in a quiet and centered manner. This could be one of the best weekends of the summer, with memories you will carry for a long time. Let Venus do its work. It will pretty everything up, get wonderful goodies together, and people who have much in common. Give yourself a break. Take off a day or two and forget about all the problems. They’ll still be there on Monday. Don’t let them steal the weekend from you too.

THE SUN SQUARES URANUS:

On Tuesday August 15th at 10:35 P.M. EDT this rather explosive square completes just on the dark of the moon. This is a day to be careful and avoid any dangerous or contentious situations. There’s a lot of fire in the air and it would just be karmic for something violent or upsetting to occur just as the lunar cycle ends. Pay attention and try to avoid any serious situations. If you do, you should be able to sidestep most issues. There may be something happening on the world stage that’s beyond your control. It’s better to watch it on TV than to be directly involved.

DARK OF THE MOON:

The next New Moon falls on Wednesday August 16th at 5:38 A.M. EDT at 23 degrees Leo 17 minutes. The day or two leading up to it will be a particularly low energy period. If you tend to be emotional this may be a very trying time each month. I have found that people with prominent moons or a Cancer Sun, Moon or ascendant respond to the lunar cycles more intensely than others. Spend this time finishing up anything that is incomplete, don’t try to initiate new projects on a waning moon, it just won’t work out. Once the New Moon hits you begin new projects or attempt a new approach to an existing problem. If you have been living in a situation or involved in a relationship that is intolerable or has outlived its usefulness this would be the proper time to move on with your life. If you have been working on a project that is almost complete but you seem to lack the energy for the finality, you must push during these low energy days to end the matter once and for all. If you don’t, when the New Moon arrives it will bring this “dead” energy along with it and conflict with the newer force being presented. Each month we are offered a chance to clean house, so to speak.
